Genevieve Walked down the stairs into the common room. Painting wasn't holding her interest as it usually did, so she decided to go and observe her fellow Slytherins. She took her usual seat in the corner of the room where she generally went unnoticed. She let her mind wander with the easy atmosphere of the room.

Artemis Foale made her way down from the girls' dormitory, tracing a pattern on the wall as she walked. She had a massive headache, which meant that they day wouldn't be so good. She figured she would be irritable and angry all morning. She gently sat down on the couch and looked around the room. The girl who liked to paint had made it out of her dormitory, "Well well well, look who decided to venture out into the common room for some air, the painting protege herself." She said and raised her eyebrows as she looked over the couch at Genevieve.

Genevieve looked at the girl sitting on the couch. had she really just called her a painting Protege? Genevieve tried her best to keep the smirk off her face and some sarcasm out of her voice as she replied, "I wouldn't call this air, simply change of scenery."

Artemis recoiled for a moment. She hadn't expected her to have an attitude but she was rather glad that she did. There was something wonderful about finding someone who could match her in wit and snark, "There is air in here, is there not?" She said sarcastically and then put her feet up onto the couch and leaned back a little so that she was lounging, "What brings you out of hiding then?" She asked, while picking at one of her cuticles. She realized that she wasn't even sure of the girl's name, even though she had most definitely seen her before.

"Is there not air in my room as well?" She shot back. "And I don't hide, therefore there is no answer to your second question." Genevieve knew she had no right to be so rude to the girl, but she refused to be seen as someone who hides away. She shifted her stance so she was looking more directly at the girl. Like everyone else at Hogwarts she had no clue which name went with the face, but she knew that by now she should know who the girl was, she had seen her around enough. She crossed her arms, wondering just how out of control the conversation would get...

"Woah there, firecracker. Down boy." Artemis said and quickly stood up and walked towards Genevieve, stopping a few feet in front of her and perching on the back of the couch, "No reason to get defensive. I'm not threatening you. At least not yet." She said and narrowed her eyes. She couldn't quite figure out what this girl was getting at, "I guess my way of saying hello isn't the most conventional." She admitted and then stuck out her arm for a handshake, "Artemis Foale. Slytherin...obviously."

Genevieve eyed Artemis for a moment. Her instincts were ready for a fight, but the last thing she needed was a detention and a fight. Too much attention wasn't her idea of excitement. Genevieve took the outstretched hand and shook it gently, replying, "Genevieve Colville."

"Aweh, and I'm Charity Anderson. What a cute little hello." Charity dropped her fake smile and snorted, whisking her way into the common room quickly. She glared at Artemis and down at a girl she had never seen before. Didn't honestly matter, she didn't bother with anyone younger than her brothers year. They were immature snobs that thought they had it all but that was the thing. You had to work your way from the shits to the top.
"Autumn, get down here! We have a... thing." Charity sneered and looked to the stairs where a blonde came prancing down, looking over Genevieve. She sneered and came to a stop in between Artemis and Charity.
"She isn't a newbie." Autumn crossed her arms as she looked down at her. "Some third year probably. Never seen her around. Must be... shy.." Charity and Autumn burst into laughter around her, clinging to each other for support. Sometimes Charity didn't mind having a wannabe.

Artemis rolled her eyes and pressed her lips together into a straight line. My my how much she hated Charity. She could feel her hands wanting to ring the girl's neck, but she restrained and resorted to crossing her arms, "Charity Anderson. So glad that you could join us. I'm just as happy to see you as I am to get bit by a snake." She said and shook her head, "And Baby Charity Anderson as well! How are you, Wannabe Autumn?" She stood up and brushed some lint off of her skirt, "As much as I would love to stay and listen to you two cackle like old hens, I have some studying to do."
Artemis knew it wasn't fair to leave Geneiveve alone with them, Artemis couldn't take it right now. She crossed to the other side of the room where she sat down at a table and began trying to do her Potions homework.

Genevieve took in the site of the laughing girls before her, not understanding just what was so funny. She looked at Artemis wondering if she got the joke. She had heard of Charity, nothing good of course. Having a face to go with the name changed things a bit. Genevieve debated how she should react. Charity was a big deal, apparently. She shrugged and said to the hyena- like girls in front of her "I'm just picky about the company I keep."

Charity stopped laughing and glared down at her. "Excuse me? Are you implying that I'm not good enough for you? Because, love, I can make you drop in seconds. Don't even try and take that lightly. See, I'm sure you know about connections, right? How one person can cause a domino effect. Watch your mouth, Kid." Charity threatened as she backed up, looking around the room. She had lost interest in Genevieve fairly quickly and now she was looking for more trouble.
She spotted Artemis and Charity allowed a small grin. She walked over to Autumn and pushed her towards Artemis, whispering something in her ear. Autumn gulped and nodded, heading over towards Artemis.
"So, Artemis, how is your brother?" Autumn questioned as she pushed herself up onto the desk.

Genevieve watched Charity walk away, taking her threat with her. Apparently Artemis was more interesting. Genevieve rolled her eyes, choosing to forget the threat. Like she cared about connections. She went back to her observing, finding that her concentration stayed on what was happening with Charity and Artemis.

Artemis looked up quickly and cursed herself, if she had just ignored Autumn, things would be a lot easier, "Apollo is fine. Pretty hung over from last night, so I think that he's still upstair sleeping." She pointed toward the boy's dormitory, her eyes never leaving Autumn's, "I suppose that he was out drinking with the pure-blood Ravenclaw girls. Thanks for asking." She put her quill into the ink and then began writing again. She didn't like that Autumn was questioning her about Apollo, it made her nervous.
She closed her book and cast an apologetic glance at Genevieve.

Genevieve Caught the look Artemis sent her way and couldn't understand what it was about. This is why she stuck to painting; she couldn't understand the complicated webs of social lives. But she still found herself wondering just what was between those three girls.

Autumn was determined not to let Artemis get to her. "Oh really now? Because I was just wondering if perhaps you could get him for me. Actually, you know what? I'll go get him myself, sis." Autumn laughed as she moved off the desk and up the boys; dorm steps.
Autumn hesitated, realizing she had no clue what door was his.
"Four to the right, Autumn, been in there enough." Charity called up the stairs with a laugh.
Autumn took a moment to glare before she tried to the knob.
Charity sat downstairs awkwardly. She looked in between the two girls with whom she didn't get along with. "So, how about this weather we're having?"
