Ambrosette sighed, shuffling through her mail like she did every night. Most of it was the same junk that she always got from family members, distant friends she hadn't seen in over two years. Ambrosette chucked most of them, burning them down to nothing but ashes. Only two caught her eye. They were both letters from unknown senders, the wax embolem unreconignable. Hesitating she cracked open one of the letters, looking at it.
They Know
Ambrosette just stared at it for a moment bfore she scoffed and crumpled it up, throwing it across the floor. The skittering sound of paper frightened her owl who took flight and landed close to her, cooing softly. Ambrosette was always getting those type of messages. They always figured they could spook her somehow. They know... what exactly? That there were rumors about her messing around with your boyfriend last night or that she pushed some dweeb into giving her his homework or she cheating of Remus last Defense Against The Dark Arts test. Ambrosette scoffed and opened the next one.
Well hello Ambrosette. As you have become aware you are now so very pretty. I can't read your body language. My love is under my control and I offer you full protection. Please do not find this creepy but I love you so deeply. You make me wake up and these tattoos are no joke. They symbolize what you mean to me. When I think of you every day. I am not second in line! Please expect to be called upon very soon. Please respond immediately.
Love, Tom.
Ambrosette stared at it, scoffing. A love letter? From a boy named Tom? Did she even know a Tom? Ambrosette stared at it for a long time. She had never been given a love letter before. She traced the elegant scrawl, a smile smile on her face. She picked out certain words and her eyes bugged. She did as the latter instructed and made a face. This was just perfect.
Ambrosette let the letter flutter to floor as she slammed her head back into thee wall with a grunt. She was sort of tired. Ambrosette rolled up her sweater and laid her head down on the make shift pillow. Everything was going to be fine.

Lily was supposed to be on Prefect duty. Patrolling the halls, making sure that everyone was in their dorms at the right time. It was her job after all, and she took it very seriously. She had already caught Sirius out lurking around near the kitchen and she had made sure to reprimand him heavily for being out past midnight. He, of course, made his puppy eyes and tried to talk his way out of punishment like all the Marauder's did and Lily, of course, sucker for the Marauder's that she was, allowed him to go free without punishment. She shook her head and adjusted the badge on her robe that showed her status.
She climbed the steps to the owlery. That was the last place that she was supposed to check before she could finally go to bed and she was determined to get it done as quickly as possible. She jumped up two stairs at a time and finally made it to the landing, slightly out of breath from practically running there. She pressed her hands together and walked through the door, hoping to Merlin that no one was there. She didn't want to have to deal out more punishment tonight.
She thought that all looked clear as her eyes scanned the room, looking for anyone up past curfew until they landed on Ambrosette sleeping. Lily raised an eyebrow and crossed over to the girl, "Miss Velna...?" She said quietly, trying not to disturb the girl. Ambrosette had quite a nasty reputation these days, "Ambrosette." She said more sternly when she didn't stir.

Miss Velna Ambrosette mentally groaned. She didn't want to move. She was so tired. The dream. What was that dream? It had been such a great dream that was escaping and she could do nothing to stop it. All she coul do was bask in the happiness it had caused her.
Ambrosette. The voice was unfamilar and distorted as it penetrated her senses. Ambrosette sat up quickly, her hand reaching out. She tangled her fingers in front of the nameless person's robe and jerked them forward, glaring at them.
She was looking at Lily Evans, some fellow Gryffindor in fifth year. She groaned and pushed Lily away, turning to stretch herself out. "Don't you know never to wake a sleeping Dragon, fifth year? I don't come in and inturrupt your sleeping patterns, now do I?"

"I believe the phrase is 'Never tickle a sleeping dragon.'" Lily said with a cheeky grin and then pushed some of her red hair away from her eyes so that she could see Ambrosette better. She looked down at her watch to make sure that she had the time correct before she told off the seventh year Gryffindor girl, "It's past curfew." That was the only statement that she gave. A simple raised eyebrow and then she looked past Ambrosette at the two letters on the ground.
She bent down and picked both of them up, not wanting the Owlery to become littered. She wanted to keep it clean like the rest of Hogwarts. Ambrosette had always ticked her off a little, "And by the way, You have interrupted my sleeping patterns, Velna. I don't appreciate the loud screaming I often hear coming from your room around 3 am. Please try and keep your bed-mates a little more well-behaved."

Ambrosette was up in a flash, ripping the two letters from Lily's hands with a nasty sneer. getting in close to her face. "DON'T TOUCH WHAT IS NOT YOURs, KID!" She scremed as she balled both the letters into a ball and shoved them deep into her cloak. "I know what time it is. If you weren't such a tight-ass maybe somebody would invite you to parties." Ambrosette pulled up her cloak and wrapped it around her, still glaring at Lily.
Oh, by the way, never once have I brought hom a 'bed-mate'. Why don't you get your facts stright before you decide to just be a bitch for the hell of it. I can out bitch you any time I want." Ambrosette reached out and cluked Lily on the chin, shaking her head slowly. "For such a bright girl you sure are stupid."

Lily immediately closed her mouth, embarrassed by what she had just said. She knew better than to insult the Head Girl like that. She knew it was because she had been having a bad day, but that had been a low blow, even for her. She let Ambrosette hit her in the chin and then the girl told her that she was stupid. Lily blew some of her bangs out of her face and shook her head.
"Sorry, Velna. Won't happen again." She said, turning away from her to go and find her owl, Persephone. She looked for the tawny feathers of the owl but couldn't find him anywhere, "Are you...sleeping after a party then? Why are you up here?" Lily was extremely intimidated by Ambrosette and she kept her gaze away from the girl, she didn't want her to have any more reasons to treat her like crap. The girl basically already thought that she was a failure of a Gryffindor and a failure of a Prefect.

Ambrosette simply shook her head, skittering her owl, Red Water, back as she moved towards the window. That insolent owl insisted on following her everywhere. How she hated it. Constantly wanting affection. Ambrosette glared and patted Red Water roughly on the head. The owl cooed in satisfaction which only resulted in Ambrosette getting angrier. She pulled at a feather on him that was sticking out and the owl squawked. Apparently he didn't like that. Red Water pecked at her hand in aggravation before it jumped out the window, decidedly mad at her.
Ambrosette turned back to face Lily, her expression bored, masking how tired she was. What had she been doing? That was a good question. She couldn't seem to remember. Had she just been wandering? Or had there been something specific she had done. Ambrosette shrugged. "Yea, I was probably at some party. Probably a waste of time, also. Thing probably blew chunks." Ambrosette commented, pulling down her dress that was riding up a little too far. "Whatever. Go back to bed, kid, you need all the beauty sleep you can get. I'll patrol for the rest of the night."

Lily laughed. She never passed up a chance to go on Prefects duty. It was a chance for her to be alone for a little while and see the castle in a different light...well...darkness. She loved seeing the shadows and the spooky cobwebs around Hogwarts. She smiled to herself, plus, there was always that off chance that she would run into Remus and then the two of them could talk for the entire duty period, "It's alright, I actually like patrolling." She said. She realized that she sounded like such a goodie two shoes and grimaced a little.
"It's quiet. I like it better than the normal day." Finally her owl flew down and landed on the ledge next to her. She grinned and Lily turned to Persephone and brushed her owl's feathers with the back of her hand, "Being Prefect has it's perks...doesn't it. How'd you get to be Head Girl..." She pressed her lips together, "If you don't mind me asking, of course." She was so intimidated it wasn't even funny. But she was also curious. She guessed that was what made her such a good student; constant curiosity.
"Oh. I saw you at the Slug Club the other night," She raised an eyebrow, "With Lucius Malfoy. What gives?"

Ambrosette it growled under her breath. So much for getting rid of her. The only way she was getting out of this was if she jumped from the freaking tower. Which she didn't intend to do. This tower had already seen too many suicidal children.
Ambrosette struggled to keep her temper under control. Had that meant that Lily didn't see her as fit for Head Girl? Because she would use her fucking fist to show her how fit she was for Head Girl. "Dumbledore understands that I didn't enjoy being confined by stupid restrictions. He found that I was trustworthy and ruled with a firm hand. It doesn't matter about your track record, only matters who you're doing here and now. And I meant it the way I said it." Ambrosette cocked an eyebrow. The last thing she needed right now was this child to act all arrogant. If she did, Ambrosette might just end up picking her up and tossing her out the window.
"Lucius Malfoy and I are just friends. He's a Slytherin, I'm a Gryffindor, things would never work out. We did it for attention because we're both attention seeking whores. Don't dwell too much into the meaning of it. Think of it as house rivalry at its finest. House mates trying to embarrass each other. Which totally back fired. Apparently I was the star of the fucking show! There isn't anything there!" Ambrosette broke off, pinching the bridge of her nose. She was quite aware of how defensive that sounded.

Lily made an odd hiccuping noise that sounded rather like she was choking. She pressed her sweaty palms onto her skirt and wiped them off. She was terrifying. By far the most terrifying person that she had ever met. Lily wanted to crawl up into a little ball and hide away from her until the year was over. So much for the Head Girl being someone that every Prefect could go talk to when they needed something.
"I wasn't saying that...I don't approve of the choice Dumbledore made. I was just curious." Lily said and went back to focusing on Persephone. It was probably safer if she didn't move any closer nor say anything else that would get her killed by Ambrosette. She listened intently as the girl described the night of public humiliation.
"So...You're-" She broke off and turned to face Ambrosette, "You're not interested in him at all?" She decide that now would be as good a time as any to test the waters, "So...The whole Narcissa thing doesn't bother you at all?" She raised an eyebrow and let Persephone fly out of the window, a letter to Lily's mother attached to her foot, "Because I totally saw them snagging outside of the Slytherin common room earlier tonight." A lie. Lily Evans had just told a lie. And what for? She just wanted to see what Ambrosette's reaction would be. Stupid girl.

Ambrosette slapped her palm against the brick, hearing the sound faintly. Blood roared through her veins, making her see red. That little three-headed dog! When she found him she was going to rip out his jugular and eat his heart! How could he? Well, it was lUcius they were talking about. But of all the things? That two-faced snake!
Ambrosette was across the room in seconds, grabbing Lily's collar and coming close to lifting the girl off the ground. "Where was he. And how long ago was this?" Ambrosette gained a hold of herself for a moment and she let go of Lily's collar, pushing her away from her in disgust. She expeled a breath and turned out the door.
"I don't give a shit if he was. He's a snake, I'm a lion. In what world do they fall in love? Lions only fall in love with lambs."

Lily gasp when the girl lifted her off of the ground. Ambrosette was stronger than she had anticipated. And quicker. She felt like she was choking and then as soon as it all started, the girl had dropped her. Lily practically fell to her knees, but somehow managed to right herself before she looked like a flailing moose. She ran her hands over the top of her head, making sure that her hair hadn't been too messed up in the squabble, "I know you act like you don't care but-" Oh who was Lily to preach about acting like she didnt care. She did it every day about James Potter. She made it seem like she practically hated him.
She bit down on her lip and stared at Ambrosette, "About 30 minutes ago. Near the dungeons. I told them that they should go back to their common room, but hell if I know if they listened." She breathed and shook her head again, "He's a Prefect too. It's hard when all the prefects try and boss one another around." She raised an eyebrow, "I won't let this little....secret leave the room." She said, pressing her back against the wall of the owlery.

Ambrosette paused before she wipped around. "I have no secrets! Nothing to hide. I'm not interested in a noy who is going to move on the day after a date. I deserve better than that. Ambrosette does not chase after guys." She muttered before she turned out of the Owlery, intent on finding Lucius, hexing him into the next millenium, and going to have a nice sleep. The end.
She might even kill him.
