"Merlin's beard, did you see her face James? It was priceless! priceless!" Sirius said with a laugh and pushed some of his hair away from his face. James and Sirius had just got done pranking one of the Hufflepuff girls. Little did she know when she walked into the courtyard she would be barraged with tiny birds that were made of James' torn up Defense Against the Dark Arts text book, "She couldn't even figure out where they were coming from! And di you hear that scream? It was like a banshee in heat!" Sirius could barley talk over his laughter, so he hoped that James could understand him.
He pulled his leather back further up his shoulder so that everything wouldn't fall out when he leaned down to pick up one of the birds, "I do feel kind of bad though...she was a bit of a looker, don't you think?" Sirius asked as he played with the bird. It was slightly still enchanted, twitching awkwardly in his hand, "Perhaps I'll have to find her and console her." He said with a wink in James' direction, "Oh come on mate, don't give me that look! She's probably an emotional wreak right now! Better swoop in while I still have the chance!"
He shook his head and waved goodbye to his best friend and headed off in the direction of the Forbidden Forest. He wanted to make sure that no one had touched the motorcycle that he had managed to smuggle into the clearing the other day. It was his prized possession and he was still working on fixing it up. He wanted it to be perfect.

Fae couldn't help it. She knew that she wasn't supposed to be in the Forbidden forest in the first place, it is FORBIDDEN after all, but she had promised a centaur that she would help watch the children while the men were away on a hunt. At night things seemed to go bad in the forest and the centaur had wanted magic to help keep the little ones safe.
She ventured further in, being a good three hours early when she came across a motorcycle in the bushes. She knew that it was there to be hidden, but she found herself venturing over to it anyways. It was obvious that someone was in the middle of fixing it up. They were doing a pretty good job at it too. She ran her hand over the fender, feeling how smooth it was. She was lost in thought as she looked over all the parts, wondering who's bike it could possibly be.

Sirius picked his way through the forest, avoiding all the plants that looked like they might be semi poisonous. He was not in the mood to have to deal with something that would possibly harm him. He just wanted to get to the bike. That was his main priority. He finally saw the clearing out of the corner of his eye and headed in its general direction. He stepped onto the thick grassy area and raised an eyebrow. Something was off. He could see the outline of someone standing near his bike. His first reaction was hot searing anger. Why couldn't people just keep their hands to themselves? He had worked hard on that bike.
"Oye!" He shouted and ran toward the outline of the person, fully prepared to tackle them to the ground and start beating the crap out of them. But he slowed when he realized the outline was much too skinny and dainty to be a male. It was a female. He raised an eyebrow and came a little closer. Fae. Although the pair had never really talked, he recognized her. He dropped his bag and put himself in-between her and the motorcycle, "What are you doing?" He asked, his voice gruff and semi-angry.

Fae jumped at the shout of Sirius Black and shied away from him as he stood between her and, what she assumed was, his bike. When she felt she was far enough away from his anger, she took a shaky breath to reply.
“I-I I’m sorry,” she uncharacteristically stuttered. “I was just admiring it. You have done a great job fixing it up so far…”
She decided to back up more. She knew that there was nothing like the bond between a man and his bike, and it was obvious that Black was very fond of his project. “I didn’t harm it. I only looked everything over. I did touch the fender, sorry if there are fingerprints…”
She wasn’t sure just how Sirius would react. He didn’t seem like a hostile person, but she didn’t really want to know what he was like if provoked.

Sirius immediately relaxed when she backed up. She even took another few steps backwards for good measure. He guessed he had probably come on a little too strong. He turned toward the bike and knelt down, looking at the fender. It had a couple of prints on it and he carefully wiped them off using the sleeve of his robe. When it looked satisfactory, he stood back up and leaned against the bike, staring at her, "Fae Roux, right?" He asked, not quite sure if he was saying her name right. He had never been good with languages. And French was a complete lost cause.
"Thanks, I appreciate someone who knows a little bit about how hard it is to fix up one of these little beauties." He said and tapped the seat of his bike. He continued to stare at her though, his expression growing lighter and lighter. She hadn't done anything to hurt it...she had just been looking, "Do you ride?" He asked, arching an eyebrow curiously.

Fae relaxed as Sirius lightened up. “Yeah, I’m Fae. And everyone knows that you are Sirius Black. She is a real beauty. I used to ride back home with my dad. He owns a shop where he fixes up bikes and paints them for people. Motorcycles are the love of his life, next to my mother.” She laughed without thinking as she quoted her father. He was obsessed with his bikes, even though he claimed they were just a hobby.
“How long have you been working on it?”

"Oh ho ho!" Sirius leaned back even more, almost causing his bike to fall over. He turned bright red and brought it back to it's resting position and stood up completely straight so that he wouldn't cause it to fall anymore. He couldn't imagine causing pain to his baby, "Everyone knows that I'm Sirius Black? I find that hard to believe, Fae." He said with a wink and then folded his arms across his chest, "I hope that everything you've heard is good." He laughed heartily to himself and then listened to her talk about her father's bike shop.
"Perhaps I'll have to check out your dad's work sometime. Is it in England or France?" He asked. His assumption was that she was from somewhere in France, based on the thick accent that he was hearing, "I've had this little beauty for about 6 months. Bought it much to the dismay of my family. They hate muggle things." He shook his head. It was a shame how against Muggles his family was. They had so much to offer the world.

“Don’t be so modest black. You are best friends with James Potter, the star of the Gryffindor quidditch team. People know who you are. As for all the things I hear being good… not always. But I don’t believe everything I hear,” she smiled.
“My father’s shop is in France. I could always give you a business card if you’re interested in getting your bike painted. It’s a shame that your family is against it. Motorcycles are the brooms of the muggle world, nothing wrong with that.”
She was glad to find that Sirius wasn’t a muggle hater. Those types of people always sparked a fire in her. She couldn’t stand being in the same room as most of the Slytherines.

Black laughed, "C'mon, James? Really? Why does every girl have a crush on James?" He laughed a little bit more and shook his head, "I'll have you know that I am the star beater of the Gryffindor Quiditch team." He winked at her, "Which, I guess, makes me a bit of a celebrity in my own right, doesn't it?" He patted his bike seat and then looked at Fae.
"I'd love a business card actually, do you have one on you? I'm thinking something flashy for my baby. Flames? Maybe "Padfoot" written in that crazy font on the side. You never know, as much as people say having your name on your bike might be tacky, it might actually look good on mine." He raised an eyebrow and looked down at the tire of his bike. It was actually ready to ride. He had finished up the last of the mechanics last week and he was dying to give it a test drive.
"It's a 1959 Triumph Bonneville T120, by the way. In case you were curious." He peered over the side of the bike and looked at the detached side-car. He stared at the kickstart and then used his foot to slam it down. A large roar emitted from the motorbike and he grinned, turning his attention to Fae, "Want to go for a ride, Roux?" He asked.

“I’ll have you know that not every girl has a crush on James. And you of course do have your own celebrity rights, I just didn’t want to give you a big head,” Fae smiled. He was almost as bad as Potter when it came to their roles on the quidditch team.
She fished through her bag looking for the little case she kept her cards in as she thought over what he said. “I was curious of the year. The make is obvious, a classic design. As for flames and your name, I would go with ghost flames, so that they don’t take away too much from the design of the bike and your name would be a nice personal touch. Ah!” She pulled out a card successfully and held it out for Sirius. “One business card, and seems it comes from me, you will get a discount of course,” she smiled.
At the roar of the bike Fae was instantly excited, and he had invited her to ride. Oh how she missed riding! She looked at her watch. There was still plenty of time before she had to meet the Centaurs…
“I would love to!” she replied. “Of course, as long as you don’t mind me joining you, I’m guessing this is her maiden voyage?” The first ride was very important and she didn’t want to impose.

Sirius sat down on the bike and tested the break to make sure that it worked before he rolled the motorcycle toward where Fae stood, "Maiden voyage, indeed. It would be my honor to take you for a ride, Roux." He said with a wicked grin. He liked her last name, it rolled off the tongue...well as well as French could roll off for him. He decided that he would leave out the...special quality of his motorbike. She would figure it out soon enough. The clearing didn't look like there was enough room, but he might as well make an effort to pretend that it was just a regular motorcycle.
"I can't say that it's going to go very fast." He shrugged and the motorbike made a louder roar. He could barely hear himself talking over the grumble of the engine, "So what do you say? Going to get on or what?" He pulled at helmet out of the back. It was an awful green color and he laughed, "Sorry it's not exactly fashion forward." He laughed heartily and threw it in her direction.

“Well then, it would be my honor to join you.”
Fae caught the helmet with a large grin spread across her features. “You do forget we have magic,” she laughed as she quickly changed the color of the helmet to a flattering cream yellow. It was her color of the day.
”I do have to be back before sunset, if you don’t mind,” she told him as she climbed onto the bike. “And I’m sure you’re joking about the speed. I can’t see you puttering around on a slow bike.” She lightly wrapped her arms around his waist as she took in the smell of the exhaust and the roar of the engine.

"Before midnight it is." Sirius said and made the engine roar again. He slowly accelerated in a circle around the clearing, "See? I told you!" He said, smiling widely to himself. She was about to get the ride of her life. Except it wasn't between the sheets. He laughed to himself and shook his head, "This bike is slow as molasses." He said and drove in another circle, slow as could be. He was surprised that the two of them hadn't fallen over yet...that's how slow they were going. The engine gave a sputtering noise and Padfoot pretended to be alarmed.
"Oh no...I hope that it's not-" Another sputtering noise caught the end of his sentence, leaving Sirius unsure if he had said anything at all. He laughed loudly, "You'd better hold on Fae!" He managed to say over the roar of the engine. The motorbike was headed straight for the trees on the other side of the clearing, but all of a sudden, the front wheel of the bike lifted off the ground like it was doing a wheelie. Sirius howled with delight as the back wheel lifted off the ground too and the two of them were launched into the air.

Fae wasn’t sure what to do or say when Sirius first started out on his bike. She felt as if she should hold her arms out to help balance the poor thing. But something in Sirius’ voice made her think he was just playing with her, so she stayed how she was, waiting for him to accelerate to normal speed. Maybe he was testing her, seeing if she really had been on a motorcycle before?
The sputtering threw her off. Had he forgotten to but gas in the tank? Or had he forgotten to hook up the lines right? She hoped it was the first option. She would hate to see all his work go to waste from gas getting into the wrong parts of the motor. She couldn’t hear what he had said either. She bit her lip, wondering if this trip was now a bust.
She managed to catch his warning over the roar of the engine but she was too focused on the trees quickly. She held onto Sirius tightly and tried to think of the best way to possibly avoid injury. But instead of the collision Fae feared, they were suddenly lifting into the air. She laughed with excitement as she realized the bike was charmed.
“This is amazing!” She yelled over the roar of wind and engine.

It had worked better than he had expected. The lurching stopped and the motorcycle was suddenly running smooth as butter. Sirius couldn't help but grin to himself and turn around almost completely so that he could assess Fae's reaction. She looked excited and kind of surprised. Wonderful. It was just what he had been going for, "Okay, so I might have forgotten to mention that the bike is...a bit different that most Muggle cycles." He said, able to talk in a normal tone because the engine had all but silenced itself. It was quiet up in the sky and Sirius turned back around so that he could watch where they were going. He wasn't all too worried about traffic in the sky though.
A couple of birds flew in their general direction and Padfoot pulled the handlebars quickly to the left, dodging them by a couple of inches. His laughter echoed across the empty sky, "Better than most muggle bikes if I do say so myself!"
