Clydell was sitting behind his new desk, his head in his hands. He was back. Not like he exactly wanted to. But six months off worth had affected his funds drastically. He couldn't care for his daughter properly without this job.
Clydell slowly brought his head up and looked at the piece of parchment in front of him. It was a letter from his parents stating that they had money for him. He refused to accept any help from them. This was his own life that he needed to struggle through. Walking over to the fire he burned the letter, before turning to finish unpacking into his desk. Elizabeth was off with Madam Pomfrey, for once he was glad that Madam Pomfrey was around. Everything would be fine. Everything would work it.
Clydell walked to the window and looked out. His eyes grazed over the grounds of Hogwarts, something he had missed greatly. Now everything was different for him while Hogwarts had stayed much the same. The same rivalry, Quidditch was still central around here and Hogwarts still held must mystery. It was great to be back.

Fae walked through the halls with Elizabeth holding her hand. A Duel group was brought in suffering from nasty hex side affects. Fae had been one of the ones to help them to the hospital wing and Madame Pomfrey asked her to return Elizabeth to her after, who happened to be the new teacher. "So Elizabeth, what is your favorite part of living at Hogwarts?" Fae asked to make small talk with the girl. They were almost to the Dark arts room. She wondered who the new teacher was, and if they would be sticking around. She walked into the room and Elizabeth let go of her hand running to the man standing at the window. "Sorry, Madame Pomfrey had a big case come in so she asked me to escort elizabeth back. I'm Fae Roux, by the way, and I hope everything is going smoothly for you. Were you a student here?" All the teachers had been students before becoming professors. Their houses tended to tell what kind of teachers they would be, so Fae was of course curious. She also wondered why he had brought his daughter with him. Living in Hogwarts was hardly exciting for a child when everyone was in class.

Clydell whirled around at the sound of his daughter's voice. He caught sight of her running full tilt towards him and he winced, thought of how she had fallen not the long ago and knocked out her two front teeth which had to be magically fixed, flashing through his head. He caught Elizabeth and twirled her around, smiling at the small whoops she let out. There was nothing more in the world he enjoyed than seeing his baby girl smile without a care, or a worry, or dark evil thoughts. She was perfect.
Clydell balanced Elizabeth on his hip as he turned to look at Fae, still smiling from Elizabeth. "Pleased to meet you, Fae. I mean, Miss Roux. I'm Clydell. Actually Professor Mason. Sorry, I'm new at this. Not used to being so... respectful and formal." Clydell took a step forward and held out his hand to Fae.
"I was a Slytherin but you better take that with a grain of salt. I've never been predictable and telling you I was a Slytherin probably won't help you at all." He winked, aware of how she was thinking. He had been a student once and believed that the teaching styles of a teacher relied solely on their old house. What he a living contradiction of that, though?

“Well Professor Mason, it is a pleasure to meet you. I’m intrigued for your lessons then,” Fae smiled. “It will be refreshing to have a teacher that isn’t so predictable. And if your daughter is any sign I’d say you will make the Dark Arts an interesting subject to learn about.” Fae smiled again at Elizabeth.
“I hope you don’t mind, but I told Madame Pomfrey I would help out with Elizabeth when needed. I hope that is alright. I just thought I would take her out of the infirmary every now and then…”
Fae couldn’t imagine what it would be like trying to raise a child while being a teacher at Hogwarts. She tried to think of any of the other teachers that even have the slightest kind of a relationship. They always seem so busy and caught up in their work… She was also worried about barging in. Fathers could be very protective of their Daughters and he had no idea who she was…

Clydell was already putting Elizabeth down who ran to play with Grindylows who were playing around in there tank. Well, not so much play as tease. And not so much tank but rather wall. Clydell had charmed the wall into a tank with some help from the charms teacher and now it held the Grindlylows in as close to home as they would get. Elizabeth squealed and ran back and forth, trailing her hand along the glass so the Grindylows followed.
Clydell turned his head to smile at Fae. "No, that would be perfect. She needs a women in her life. God knows it or she'll grow up to be just like a boy." Clydell chuckled as he crossed the room to Fae, slinging his arm over hre shoulder. Within a few short minutes he had come to think of her as part of the family.
"She already seems to like you. Elizabeth never goes off with strangers." Clydell wasn't going to admit how worried he was that she had gone off with a stranger period. Even if he knew Fae was harmless.
As if noticing how inappropriate his gesture had been to a student ,much less one of his female pupils, he jerked his arm away. He drew in a long breath and showed his hands through his hair, wishing that Elizabeth wasn't around so he could have a smoke.
Clydell was trying to convince himself that Fae wasn't the least bit pretty. Not at all considering he was almost twice her age. It probably had to do with the fact she looked like Lonnie. Or that he hadn't been with a girl in about two years.
"So, can I consider you a babysitter of sorts?" Clydell smiled at Fae, moving more papers around absently on his desk to keep his hands busy.

Fae laughed at Professor Mason worrying about his daughter becoming boy like. From what Fae knew of the girl, she was a well rounded girl. Fae smiled as the girl played with the Grindylows. She was a very free spirit while her father seemed to be tortured.
Fae was a little thrown at Mason’s arm going around her shoulder. She didn’t say anything as she tried to listen to what he was saying about Elizabeth. Something about strangers…
Fae let out a breath of relief when he removed his arm from her shoulders and moved to his desk. It could go without saying, Professor Mason was good looking for his age, but the last thing Fae wanted was to throw a scandal into her school career.
“I wouldn’t say baby sitter,” Fae smiled noticing Elizabeth’s face scrunch up at the word. “I’d like to be considered Elizabeth’s friend.” Fae gave Elizabeth a smile. “Besides, I like to help out where I can. And you seem like you could use a little help while you get everything into order.” Fae paused a moment. She realized she could have offended the man.
“I’m not saying you’re a bad parent or anything like that.” She rushed trying to amend her comments. She scowled at herself. She was making it worse.

Clydell simply smiled as Fae tried to get her foot out of her mouth. He hadn't honestly been offended. Clydell was man enough to know when he needed help he just wasn't going to accept money from his parents. Only for a last resort if things really snowballed down hill. He had to think of Elizabeth. He wasn't just some boy who decided he didn't need his parents and-without a clue what the real world was like- could just set off looking for jobs here and there over the holidays instead of returning home. He was a father now. A father buried neck deep in stress.
"No, Fae, you didn't offend me. Things haven't been the same since Elizabeth's mother passed. It has been taking a tole on Elizabeth. She's getting a tad bit violent. It probably would be better if you could take her away from all the stress once in a while... as a friend." Clydell let humor settle in his eyes. Friend. To a tot. "Fae, you're certainly a weird one." He commented, almost teasing in a way.

Fae laughed. “I have been told I’m quite weird,” she smiled. “I’m just glad I can help out. I know she will have a bit of a hard time without kids her age, but I love dress up and making macaroni art,” She laughed. She sounded like a ridiculous child.
“I’m sorry to hear about your wife. It’s hard losing a loved one.” Fae had lost her grandmother two years ago. It was not even close to being the same thing but it was all she had to relate. “I’m sure Elizabeth will turn out just fine. You seem to be a very loving father and she is a very beautiful girl.”
Fae smiled at Elizabeth again. “What would you like to do tomorrow?” Fae figured if she could get it planned today it would be easier to keep Elizabeth occupied. Plus this way her father could give permission. Fae had no clue what kind of boundaries he wanted for his daughter and she didn’t plan on doing anything without his permission.
