Rurik hopped up from the couch. He waved off Charities statement and walked right past her and Draco. He could hear his heart beat in his ears. He had been taking in Charity’s words and was going to do a sarcastic ass-kissing line or two before leaving but all that flew out the window. Who the hell is this brother? And Victim? What was that all about? He knew in the back of his mind Fae could take care of herself and that Stasja was probably just provoking him but he couldn’t think straight.
“What the hell do you mean by victim?” He growled, stepping into Stasja’s personal space. “And who the hell is this brother of yours? If he is anything like you he doesn’t stand a chance. Fae knows garbage when she sees it.”
It was rude. It was harsh. He didn’t care. The last thing he needed was his sister getting into a bad situation because of this girl.

"Oh, My God." Charity whispered under her breath, completely exasperated. There was only so much one person could handle. She shook her head, noticing Draco and Goyle had left. She decided it was time to follow suit.
"You guys enjoy the time alone. I'm done here. You guys really aren't that fun to be around." Charity rolled her eyes and left the common room, grabbing her bag as she went in search of somewhere else to hide.

She ignored Rurik and watched Charity. FINALLY! 3 gone, 1 to go. And then she could have the common room all to herself.
"See ya," she rolled her eyes and looked back at Rurik. "Oh don't worry. I'm sure your sister will enjoy every minute of it." She smirked. There was nothing better than an older over protective brother. She knew all too well how that was.
She could feel Rurik's heat radiating on her skin, he was so close. Her eyes wandered to his lips. "And by Victim," she said, her voice getting softer and lower, her body leaning towards towards him, "I mean..." her fingers touched his chin, "like this."
Her lips touched his lightly. A hot electrifying shock shattered inside her lips. She leaned back and opened her book in front of her face. His sudden anger and assertiveness had awoken something in her. As her eyes read each word, her mind thought of something else. He was so annoying, but that moment of anger in him awed her.

Rurik didn’t know what to do. For the first time in his life he didn’t have a reaction plan. For one, Charity walking out threw him off his focus. Then Stasja kissed him? What the hell was that about?! He was about ready to murder the girl!
He did not like the idea of any guy doing such a thing to his sister…
She simply opened her book back up and ignored him.
He sat back down on his couch and stared at the fire, steaming. What the hell was happening here?
“Well then. I hope you and your brother are nothing alike.”
He knew it would frustrate her that he continued to talk when she obviously wanted to be alone but he would not let her win completely. So he said the stupidest thing possible and made a mental note to track down his sister later.

Stasja almost put her book down. Why the hell was he still here? She expected him to storm out of the room to look for his sister or at least just storm out out of disgust for what she just did. Her temper was flaring. She just wanted to be alone. Her knuckles turned white from gripping her book tight.
She gritted her teeth together. "What's that supposed to mean?"
She glanced sideways at him. He was odd and she didn't know what he was up to. This made her wary. Her body automatically started to scoot away to the other side of the couch. Her eyes looked back at the book, moving left to right but not really reading anything.

Rurik smirked at the possible answers. He wasn’t really sure which to go with.
“It means you could have done better.” He shrugged. Really it hadn’t been a bad kiss at all, he just hated that she had taken charge. And he wanted to get her back for it. He also wanted to get her back for the Fae comment. Her brother had better not be a Slytherin….
“It also means that he better not be a Slytherin. The lot of you are not good enough for my sister from what I have seen.” He realized after he said it how arrogant the statement was. “Me included,” He amended as an afterthought. He definitely would not want his sister to be with a guy like him, so the statement was true enough.

Stasja was taken aback. He was being... nice? What the hell was going on? She didn't know what to do. Her fingers started to play together and she scratched her nails on her skin. She could feel her anxiety flaring up. The air wasn't getting in her lungs and she felt faint.
Stasja closed her eyes and tried to calm herself. She didn't want to look like a complete idiot after all that thing about being better. But this... Rurik was confusing her.
"First of all, he is a Gryffindor," she said after taking a deep breath. She finally opened her eyes only to look down. Her fingernails playing with the corners of the pages of her book. "And that.. was.. the first time I've kissed anyone." She said quietly.

Rurik could practically feel the discomfort from the other end of the couch. “You realize none of the houses mean squat to me, right?” At her confession it was his turn to be uncomfortable. He rubbed the back of his neck.
He wanted to say she was lying, but he would make a huge ass of himself if she was being honest… Where was Charity when you needed her? Rurik wasn’t good with shy people. He couldn’t read them…
“Well that’s very… strange then? Not really the way I would picture someone getting their first kiss…”
He couldn’t tell if she was being honest or if she was trying to weed him out.

Stasja felt awkward. She had liked it when he was confident and now he wasn't. He seemed just as confused as she was. She sighed and closed her book entirely, but not before putting a bookmark down.
"Listen, you're the one that said 'he better not be a Slytherin," she mimicked him as she air quoted. "OBVIOUSLY, houses mean something to you. They do after all, generalize us."
She leaned back and propped her foot on the table. "And don't get all weird. The only reason I did that was to freak you out with your sister. Obviously it didn't really work. So don't flatter yourself." Stasja bit her lip, she had always imagined her first kiss to be with someone she liked- not some stranger. Least of all not some stranger that didn't even like her.
"I don't know what everyone's deal is here with being a so called leader," she said referring to the spat she had seen earlier. "Not like anyone was doing any kind of leading anyways," she mumbled.

Rurik relaxed. This he could handle. “I can generalize Slytherin because I’m in it. Are Gryffindors arses? I don’t know any. So no, houses don’t mean anything to me seems I know nothing about their characterizations.”
“Oh please, you wouldn’t have done it if you hadn’t felt like it, even the slightest bit,” He gave her a cocky smirk. “As for the leader thing, it’s all about being in charge. I hate when people think they can take advantage of me or that I’m worthless. I have many great talents and abilities and everyone should know that.”

Stasja shook her head. Oh this, she had to hear. She sat up and turned her body towards him. Her head started to hurt so she took off the pins and hair bow from her hair letting her hair down.
"Really? In charge? In charge of what exactly, huh Mr. Talented?" she mocked him, "Until you can turn yourself into a seal and bounce a ball on your nose, I doubt you're that talented!" She rolled her eyes. This Rurik guy was something else, egotistical, that's what he was. This whole leader thing was bullsh*t. They were all students, no one was better than the other in that aspect. But as people, yes, there was a ladder and she considered herself at the top. Why was she even talking to this guy? Probably just another attention seeking Slytherin like everyone else. No one here knew the first thing about leadership, all they wanted was attention.

Rurik scoffed. “Really? A seal is what you consider talented?” This he didn’t get. One moment she is all awkward, shy, first kiss girl, and the next she’s back to being miss arrogant nose in the air. He had to admit she was more attractive with her hair let loose. Maybe her personality is the same way? He doubted it.
“In charge of the situation. I should be the one that acts first, I should be the one that gets the credit and glory, good and bad. I’d say I’m pretty talented. I’m the best flyer in Latvia. I keep straight A’s, and I take care of my own.” He wasn’t sure why he was bothering explaining himself. She wasn’t going to listen to a word of it. To her he was just simply a big arse that started fights. Was it even worth the breath to explain there was more? Probably not. He fixed a cold look on her.
“you’re something else. You’re sitting here scolding me for my arrogance when your nose is so high in the air you probably have your own clouds.”

Stasja stared at him for a moment before bursting into a fit of laughter. No one had ever really spoken to her like that before. Sure, her brother, but this guy didn't know her. Most people were too afraid of her to even to her.
"I'm sorry," she said as she wiped away a tear from her eye after she had quietened down. "That was a funny description, I couldn't help but laugh."
That was actually the first time Stasja had laughed in years, let alone smile.
"Listen, I'm not judging you in any way. I just don't understand what you'd be in charge of? Students? What kind of situations?" she shrugged. Maybe he wanted to be in charge of the halls, a hallway monitor of some sort. "I mean, do you want to be Head Boy or something like that?" She waved her hand in the air, making motions as she spoke. She could tell she was intrigued because she never did that unless something piqued her curiousity. Stasja quickly put her hands down and held them together.

She was laughing at him now? He couldn’t keep up! Hard enough to make her tear up. What had he said? He didn’t see what was so funny about clouds. Then again… someone walking around with little clouds might make someone laugh? He just stared at her, waiting for her fit to be over.
“I don’t know. No I don’t want to be head boy; you have to be too… proper for that. I simply like being in charge. I like when people look to me for answers and solutions… I don’t know.” He was getting frustrated trying to explain it. “I just like having control of everything.” Simple as that, wasn’t it?

Draco Malfoy walked back into the Slytherin common room, this time leading a fifth year Gryffindor girl who was staring at the ground. He stared at the two for a moment. "It smells like pent up lust in here..." Draco's nose wrinkled in distaste. The Gryffindor gasped in surprise, finally looking up at the two in front of her with wide-eyes. What had she walked into this time? She let out a small cough to cover her gasp of surprise as Malfoy looked at her. "This is Rurik Malone. you were looking for him, right?" He shrugged before heading up the stairs to his room.
Haylee stared at Rurik and the other girl who were sitting on the couch. What was she supposed to say now? She hadn't been expecting to find him with a girl. Maybe right now wasn't the best time to talk to him. "Umm, my name is Haylee Anderson and I'd like to talk with you but... It can wait, if you want."
