Charity was mad. No, she wasn't simply mad, she was pissed. Charity was as livid as someone could get. Of course, the only one who could really tell what was going through her mind was Draco Malfoy who had his arm firmly fastened around her shoulders, absently rubbing his thumb in small circles on her shoulder. The act had always soothed her but right now, it just wasn't working.
Charity closed her eyes, trying to concentrate on keeping her cool demeanor at the forefront. A slip this early in the year would not be good. When she opened her eyes, she noticed Crabbe and Goyle standing at the ready. It was normal for them to act like bodyguards towards her and Draco. That was probably why everyone always assumed her and Draco were an item. When they were watched that closely by Crabbe and Goyle, it seemed as if they were intimate and alone.
They were all but alone in the common room. Everyone at least sensing a dark mood from someone in the room. Charity glared at a first year across the room who scurried away. She fixed her eyes on Pansy, swooning over Draco like a damn pug, before she gave her orders to go get her a bottle of carbonated water. Pansy scurried off like the obedient dog she was.
When the door opened to the Slytherin common room, Charity glanced over. Whoever it was, she was not in the mood for them.

Rurik walked into the common room. It was a disgusting little place. It reminded him of a cave.... It was always dark and a bit chilled, a dreary little place.
First thing he noticed was her fiery hair. She always stood out in a room. Charity. He smirked as he noticed Malfoy beside her. The twat. Then Rurik noticed his surroundings. The room was completely empty except for the the two and their gargoyle-like guards. He didn't like the two at all. He hadn't even bothered to learn their names.
He could feel the tension in the room. There was a distinct 'get the hell out' vibe. He chose to ignore it, sauntering over to a couch and laying across it with a large sigh.
"How's it going, doll?" He gave a smirk to the obviously pissed Charity. He had always enjoyed playing with fire...

Charity could barely control the shout that wrangled up in her throat. She wanted to throw herself at Rurik. In what way, Charity wasn't sure. A slight blush rushed to Charity's cheeks as she turned to face him, her eyes giving away nothing but a distant icy stare.
Charity opened her mouth to tell Rurik to all but fuck off but Malfoy beat her to the punch. "Don't talk to her like that, Malone. You have no idea who she is. So why don't you be smart for once in your life, and scurry off with your tail between your legs?" Charity closed her eyes as the urge to laugh rang through her body. But she couldn't, it would undermine everything Draco had just said.
Crabbe and Goyle tensed, ready to step in if one of them asked. Charity made a slight shake of her head before they relaxed. "In a more... err... civil way, that means: Can you please leave before one of us is forced to hex you?"

Laughter rung from Rurik's throat. A million dog puns played through his mind, but he decided he probably shouldn't get Malfoy too riled up. Charity didn't look like she was up for it either so he cut it off and placed his had to his chest as if he was offended.
"Ouch Malfoy. That really stung. I've been trying to keep my tail a secret." He gave a fake pout before rolling his eyes. "I simply asked how it's going. Last I heard the Common room was free territory to mix and mingle with my house mates. And doll, I'm sure you can cast a pretty mean hex, but I know how to take care of myself." He flashed charity a smile.
He gave the two gargoyles a look over. He was sure he could take the two brutes. Sure they were each pretty hefty and good sized but they looked a bit slow. He could probably just shine a flash light and the two would be distracted.
He returned his attention to Charity and Malfoy. Malfoy was an awfully small prick to be running things. Family probably has a lot of money.
He looked over Charity. She was definitely attractive and the cold stare she constantly wore gave away why she was in charge. She probably had the best chance of beating him out of everyone in the room, only because he would not hit a girl.

Charity was nearly out of her seat when Draco grabbed a hold of her and forced her back down. She gave a huff of surprise as her eyes narrowed at Rurik. "Just who do you think you are? You really don't have any common sense, do you? Why the hell were you put in Slytherin. Might as well have been a Hufflepuff." Charity managed to barely keep the sneer out of her voice as she shook her head in disgust. Some people really didn't know where they belonged.
Draco shook his head, looking at Goyle, giving him a silent signal that is was almost time to dispose of this troublesome guy. Charity may have this situation under control but it was always good to make sure there was a back up plan. Charity was in no mood to be tested.
"Listen, Malone, this place here, has been taken. As if you can't already see that. Were you planning on a full out show down? Slytherin looks up to Draco and I. You're a nobody. And nobodies, aren't worth our time." Charity raised her eyebrows and politely smiled. "Got it?"

There was no where she could go to be alone, even in her own room she was surrounded by people. She walked down to the common room to find some people in what looked like a heated argument.
She sighed as she sat on the couch in the middle of them and opened her book. Of course it would be them. All the ego and fire of the Slytherin house would OF COURSE be fighting against each other. How lucky...
"Honestly, don't you all have something better to do?" She said in a low tone. How absurd this whole thing was. Who cares who anyone looks up to? It was all a load of crap to her. She didn't look up to anyone, none of them were worth looking up to.
She crossed her legs as she leaned back on the couch and glanced at each of them from above her book before rolling her eyes.

“I don’t see your name on it,” Rurik chided. “And I may be a nobody, but I’m not going to let it remain that way, doll. People’s idols change. One slip, one word and it can all go to hell.” He had dropped his voice to show just how serious he was. NO ONE calls Rurik Malone a nobody.
“I came in here to meet my new class mates, not to brawl. But if you guys are going to insist…” He gave a slight shrug and rolled up his sleeves nonchalantly.
As the new girl came and took a seat in the middle of the room Rurik was oddly reminded of his sister. She would probably do the same thing to diffuse the situation… He couldn’t help but smirk at her comment.
“Sadly I don’t have anything better to do than rile these two up,” He smiled at every one as he finished rolling up his sleeves and looking over the room. He liked the girl, as odd as she was. She didn’t have the Fire of Charity though…
“I’m Rurik. I don’t believe we have had the pleasure of meeting yet…?”

Charity sighed in annoyance as she stood up. Looks like her moment was over. No more quiet time. Charity fixed the girl with a cold, blank stare before she blinked and looked away. Draco followed her lead and shook his head at the obsolete girl. Charity wasn't in the mood for this. Her head was already giving her the gnawing pain of an incoming headache.
"Hey, kid, shut up. It really is none of your business. If you want to study, or whatever, fine. Just shut your damn trap and stop sticking your fat nose in things that aren't called for. Got it?" Charity walked to the fireplace and grabbed a glass sculpture off the mantle.
"Hey, Goyle, think fast." Charity jerked around and lurked the sculpture at Goyle. Goyle flicked it away with his hand before Draco caught it before it hit the ground. "Seriously, everyone, we just need to calm down. I don't really want to end up in detention this early in the year, understood?"
Charity fixed each of them, including the unnamed studying girl, with a disapproving stair. Charity let a sigh of disgust pass her lips as she fixed Rurik with a glare. "She's just a child, Rurik, ignore her."

The side of Stasja's lip twitched. Someone introducing themselves in this situation? She put her book down slightly. "Stasja," she said before looking over at Charity.
"I'm not studying," she said closing her book, but keeping her finger in place as to not lose her spot. It seemed as if Charity was losing her cool, could it be jealousy? Stasja couldn't help but smirk. THE Charity, afraid of a little competition.
"The art of Occlumensy isn't in our studies. Simply some light reading," she bit her lip with a smile as she tilted her head to the left, "but I'm sure you already knew that."

Rurik took the name in and smirked at Charity’s dismissing of the girl. Obviously she did not care for any females making themselves present. He did roll his eyes at Malfoy’s theatrics with the statue. They have magic. It would hardly matter if the thing hit the floor. He stuck to watching Charity. He was interested in seeing how long she could keep that iced over control of her features intact. Should he push it?
“Are prefects even allowed to end up in detention? Isn’t the whole point for you guys to be the role models and goodie-two shoes?”
He raised his Eyebrow at Stasja. “Light reading? Even my sister wouldn’t read that crap.” He decided he didn’t like the way she had just blown him off so he was going to be rude right back. He had just been polite and trying to learn her name. Were all the girls in Slytherin going to be cold? He didn’t really like the prospects Hogwarts offered for available hook-ups.

Charity moved as Draco walked over, putting the statue back on the mantle. "How many times are you going to break that statue?" Charity let a genuine smile gross her face as she leaned forward to whisper quite loudly in his ear.
"As many times as you try getting in my pants." Charity giggled as she pulled back, forgetting exactly who was around her.
"Oh? So you'll be doing it for a long time then?" Draco shook his head and pulled Charity in for a hug. She briefly hugged him back, awkward about the affection. It had taken years for Charity to even hug Draco.
Charity broke away and turned to the others in the room. "Occulumency is possibly one of the most useful talents in the world. Although, I highly doubt you'll learn anything by simply reading about it. It's more of a actual training thing." Charity raised her eyebrow in annoyance as Rurik all but teased this girl.. Stasja.... back. It was obvious they wanted to be nobodies together. Who cares who he hooked up with? It wasn't any of Charity's business.
"Nobodies..." Charity whispered under her breath.

Stasja found them all to be talking about nothing that mattered at all. Why oh why couldn't they leave the common room? She should have demanded her father to make them give her her own room instead of sharing with others. She'd have to find a room where she could be by herself soon or she'd die of frustration from being surrounded by such ignorance.
"Nobodies?" she scoffed. What utter nonsense. Charity was not who she thought she was- she over estimated her. Charity was just like any other girl who just wanted power, someone who acted on impulse and had no idea of what a grand design was. Peasants. What in the world were her parents thinking when they moved to England!?
"Of course... Rurik," she said saying his name clearly as to engrain the pronounciation in her mind. "I'm sure your sister has better things to do than read about Occlumensy. Not really much to do here besides from fight one another as you three have been doing. How fun. Such joy..." she said sarcastically. Draco, Charity and Rurik, what a group of hot heads... No sense of direction what so ever.

Rurik raised his Eyebrow at Stasja. She thought very highly of herself. “Considering you don’t even know who my sister is, I suggest you refrain from making any statements about her.” Rurik was riled up now. It hadn’t even been that big of a deal but someone who doesn’t even know Fae making a snide comment about her would not be tolerated. He didn’t even care that Stasja was basically calling him a Neanderthalic brute.
As for Charity’s display with Draco, Rurik found himself making a gaging noise. “Please, get a room. No one wants to see that kind of stuff.” He made a disgusted look. He of course meant Malfoy putting himself all over Charity. Anybody would probably enjoy watching the red head do anything.
He rolled his eyes as he was yet again called a nobody. She would see. She was very wrong, and he would prove it to her. Quidditch tryouts were coming up. Though from what he had heard from the few athletes he had run into the Slytherines basically bought their positions. Pathetic really, but if that is what it came down to he would put up the money to gain a spot and show everyone what real talent was. That was his first plan of action to get known.

Charity was tired of the whole scene. She figured it was perhaps time to possibly break the reserved nature for a moment, but to maintain the cold, aloof exterior at the same time. Charity had a short temper and these pathetic Slytherins were stretching it to the extreme. She had hoped that she would be able to control her temper this year but that didn't seem to be able to happen.
Charity pulled away from Draco at Rurik's comment, quite offended by it. She did not need to sit here and be insulted by the scum of Slytherin who had no respect, manners or any concept of how to act. It was downright disgraceful for pure-bloods to act like this. She might as well add to the disgrace.
"Stasja, you seriously need to tone it down. You're annoying and prissy as hell. And that's saying something coming from Charity Anderson. You remind me of this girl I used to know, Victoria. She acted like she owned the place with her little girl attitude. Stop being a stuck up, spoiled rich kid and think about what you say." Charity spared her a brief smile before she turned to Rurik.
"And you. You really need some respect. If you want to climb up the social ladder at all you have to get in good aims with your superiors. That means you should've came in kissing ass to Draco and I. You have no idea what manners are, do you? Or how about how to act like a civil human being to others. That's why I consider you a nobody. If I don't get respect from someone, they don't deserve to be acknowledged. Is that so much to ask?" Charity turned away and looked at the entire room.
"What are we? Uncivilized gorillas? This is a pitiful display for Slytherins. Absolutely pitiful."

Stasja couldn't believe what she was hearing. What in the world was Charity talking about? As far as she was concerned, all she wanted to sit down and read. Had she been yelling? Throwing things? No. Charity was the one acting out.
"Rurik," she said and gave him a cold smile, "I know your sister. Oh, I know her quite well. She's going to be my brother's next victim."
Then she turned to Charity, "And perhaps you should follow your own advice. As far as I'm concerned you're the only one acting like a gorilla. I haven't thrown anything or raised my voice since I sat here." She tilted her head, "FYI, to get respect, you have to give respect, and I haven't seen you give anyone respect. You get what you give, right?"
Stasja looked back at Rurik, "If I were you, I'd be more worried about your sister than Charity." As much as she loved her brother, she also loathed him at the same time. Bringing some problems into her older brother's life was her job after all.
