Hermione slowed down once they turned around the corner. She looked down at their hands and felt the warmth of his hand on hers, it felt nice. He was the first and only boy she'd ever held hands with. Locking her fingers with his, she realized that Charles was exactly what she needed at the moment. "I would like that," she said looking down at her feet as they walked. Charles had a knack for making her feel like a giddy little girl, and she didn't mind it at all. "But I think we have a quest to fulfill first," Hermione gave him a sly look to see if he was up for it.

Charles smiled at the rather odd suggestion that Hermione had just given him, "What kind of quest are we talking? Because I think that I left my suit of armor, white stallion, and iron sword back in my room....So we might need to go get that. Because you know me, I must always be properly dressed for the occasion." He winked and then straightened his Hufflepuff House tie, "But seriously, though, what kind of quest are we doing? Daring sword fights...save the damsel in distress?" He picked her up and spun her around with a laugh, "Don't worry M'Lady! Sir Charles is here!"

Hermione laughed as he spun her. "Well in that case, I shall get my maiden dress and my crown made of flowers!" Her arms wrapped around his shoulders to make sure she wasn't going to fall. "Our quest is to find a great, and very dangerous three-headed gerbil," she announced. Then with a wide grin she put her hand over her heart, "And me, the damsel that I am might need to be rescued from this three headed beast." She then put the back of her hand on her forehead and feigned a fainting damsel. "I shall need my knight in shining armor to rescue me," she said dreamily.

Charles almost fell over, taking both of them with him as he began laughing even harder, "Oh dear god Lady Hermione, You're killing me...." He found it hard to catch his breath, "I've never transfigured something with more than one head...This should be interesting to say the least." He winked and then looked down at their robes, "Shall we go change ourselves and prance around the castle in medieval garb? I'm really hoping you say no because my suit of amor is still getting polished." He winked and then set her down on her feet gently.
"I sincerely doubt Hades will appreciate our gift. Perhaps we should instead offer a trident to Poseidon. He seems a more willing gift recipient." He winked.

Hermione dropped to her feet and took his hands, "But we must dress in the proper attire! Don't worry, I'm sure Sir Cadogan will let you borrow his." Taking the end of her robe, she twirled around as if wearing a dress. "We shall do both. But then that means we have to give Zeus a gift also! The king of the Olympians will smite us if we give his brothers offerings and not him!"

"Oh! Sir Cadogan, eh? Last week we got into a very large duel and I sincerely doubt that he would let me borrow his exquisite coat of armor!" Charles waved his arms wildly through the air, demonstrating a sword fight, "Plus...I'm pretty sure that his is painted on. I would not look very good in painted-on armor." Charles looked at Hermione and winked. Then he thought for another moment.
"Idea: Ready? Zeus is said to carry around a lightening bolt in order to strike down the mortals, right? Well....we cut off Harry's lightening bolt scar and give it to him." Charles then scrunched up his nose, "On second thought, perhaps human flesh would not be that appealing. We'll have to capture a real lightening bolt instead."

Hermione scrunhed up her nose as well and shook her head. "That is abominable!" she exclaimed. "A real lightning bolt would be better... But that means we have to wait for a storm." Then her eyes widened, "or conjure up lightning! I love magic!" She laughed almost hysterically, "there has to be a way to do it. Now, which would you rather do: ask Hagrid where we can find a three-headed gerbil or ask McGonagall how to transfigure one?"
Hermione crossed her arms and waited, this would be a task to accomplish.

"Well, Although McGonegall does love me, because I'm her second favorite student next to you, I feel like asking how to transfigure such an....abomination might taint the perfect view that she has of us." Charles smiled and then straightened his tie again, "So I say that we ask Hagrid as our first plan. And then if he has no idea, which I somehow doubt he will...Because let's face facts, a three-headed gerbil seems anything less then Hagrid's style, we'll have to look in the library and do some of our own research. I can't imagine that it would be too difficult." Charles imagined the three headed gerbil and felt his eyes grow wide, "It's going to be terrifying....A real monster!"

Hermione began to walk down the hallways making their way outside and towards Hagrid's hut. She could just imagine the look on the half-giant's face when they ask the question. Always serious and never joking around, it would be hard to imagine Hermione having as much fun as this- but it was too good not to pass up. Besides, they might actually come across a three-headed gerbil. Now how many people can say they own one? "Are you saying you're afraid of a little teeny tiny gerbil, Charles?" Hermione giggled.

Charles blushed and then looked up at her, "Of course I'm not afraid!" He said and pulled his sleeves down hastily, "Im just saying." They reached Hagrid's hut and Chalres knocked first. The were sounds of rather loud footsteps clambering toward the door and finally it swung open.
"Good afternoon, Hagrid." Charles said, flashing what he thought to be an award winning smile, "Hermione and I were wondering if we could come in for a moment?" Hagrid looked at him curiously, He had spoken to Charles Garet only once in his entire life, so this was very out of character.
"Uh...sure....why dont yer two just come in and sit down." He said and let them inside, "I'll make us some tea."

Hermione grinned at Charles before stepping in and taking her usual place on the chair that was completely too big and would fit five of her. She remembered the first time she sat in that very seat and how she marveled at everything around her mostly because everything was so over sized.
"So Hagrid, we were wondering if you could help us with something," Hermione said slowly. "What do you know about three-headed gerbils?" She went right out and said it. Knowing Hagrid, he should know something about them. Where to find them and all. And it wasn't like it was some big secret, hush-hush, no-no subject like Fluffy during their first year.

"What the bloody hell do you want a three-headed gerbil for?" Hagrid said and scratched the top of his head. He set down a tray of tea and hard looking cookies and then stared at Hermione, "Is this really what you came to talk about?" He said and then cracked a smile, followed by a hearty laugh.
Charles perched on the arm of the chair that Hermione was sitting on, "Seriously, Hagrid. Heard anything? Know where to get them?" He grinned and nudged Hermione.
"Erm...Well....If you're looking for that kind of stuff...." Hagrid lowered his voice, "There's a dealer of small animals in Hogsmead outside the Shreaking Shack. Might have what you're looking for..."

Hermione beamed, "Really?" She didn't expect it would be this easy. Looking at Charles, she nodded. They might have some luck with this dealer, and if not, she was sure he would know where to find one! It couldn't be that hard. If Hagrid could get a gigantic three headed dog, then surely a three headed gerbil would be no problem at all. "Thanks a lot Hagrid!" Taking a large gulp of the tea, she rubbed her stomach, "tea was wonderful as always."

Charles and Hermione headed out back onto the grounds, "I can't believe you told him that his tea was good..." He said and gagged a little, "It tasted like rocks and mud. What does he put in that stuff?!" He groaned as his stomach made a weird lurching noise. He looked at Hermione and shrugged.
"So what's it gonna be, are we going to buy this....gerbil monster?" Charles laughed at the ridiculousness of the situation, "I mean...what if you fall in love with the animal and then you want to keep it? What are we going to do then?! I mean...I don't think that I'm ready for an animal in my life. It's a huge commitment." Charles winked.

Hermione licked her lips, "it was delicious! But I think I've gotten used to it over the years." She tilted her head, "in fact, I think he added something in there. Cinnamon?" She slowed her walk from quick brisk steps to a nice slow stroll as they approached the road to Hogsmeade. There was no rush as there was still plenty of daylight left.
"Well, I can be a single mother!" she laughed, "Loads of people do it. Besides, I don't think I'd fall in love with a three-headed gerbil. Now a three-headed cat, perhaps." Then she thought about all the coughing up of hair balls, hissing and biting. "On second thought..."
