"Oh no. No inconvenience at all." Lucius said and took his jacket off. He draped it over Ambrosette's entire front so that she couldn't be seen. He rolled his eyes, "I'm beginning to regret bringing you here." He whispered into her ear and then pushed some of her hair behind her ear so that it wasn't completely in her face, "Imapandaeyedwhore, you're wonderful, you know that?" He said at full-tone so that everyone could hear him.
"She's dying to teach us some mermish!" Lucius announced to the group and cast a glance at Slughorn. He had smiled brightly at the suggestion and was now looking intently at the two of them, "The stage is yours, Am." He, of course, used the nickname she had hated so much. He couldn't help it at this point.

Ambrosette raise an eyebrow, switching the coat around so it was draped around her shoulders, pulling down her dress even more as she went. She couldn't but laugh as she looked at Lucius with a cocked eyebrow, her lips twitching into a smirk. It seemed as if the air was charged around them, waiting for the next move. "Oh, Imamanwhorewithnoambition, you know me so well." She whispered before she turned back to the table.
"See, Mermish is a very old language. It involves a lot of movement due to the fact that sound doesn't travel all to well under water. Most of it is just clicks and songs actually but I figured I'd show you the... motions of when they get angry at one another." Ambrosette stood up, gurgling and throwing her body every which way, her eyes blinking rapidly, rolling back in her head, and letting out huge bursts of sounds. She stood on her chair for a moment before she flung herself onto the table, rolling around.
Ambrosette wrinkled her nose in disgust as she rolled over food and pushed everything off the table every which way. She let out a final screech and sat up, somehow in the middle of the table. "That's it. Isn't it beautiful?"

Lucius laughed. He laughed like he had never laughed before in his life. It was the most hilarious thing that he had ever seen. His stomach was beginning to hurt by the time that she rolled around on the table like a mad person making gurgling noises. He had to wipe his eyes at least three times because he was beginning to get teary eyed. Suddenly his instincts took over and he was on top of his chair, "It's the most beautiful thing that I've ever seen, really. And you see, when they get increasingly mad, they tend to throw things." He said as he reached down and picked up a handful of the dessert.
He stepped onto the table and shoved it into Ambrosette's mouth, laughing at the same time. He made a loud gurgling and lurching noise as he made his hands do awkward twitching motions next to her. He held out his hand and offered it to her, a nasty grin playing on his face.
Everyone else was staring at them with looks of confusion and disgust. It was the weirdest things that they had ever seen...and by far the most exciting thing that had ever happened at a Slug Club meeting. Everyone burst into applause and even Slughorn stood up to clap for them, "I have...Well I have never seen anything like that before! What a riveting performance!" He exclaimed, his face red with excitement.

Ambrosette coughed against the suddenness of the food being shoved down her throat and wiped at her mouth with the back of her hand. She took Lucius hand and pulled herself up, leaning on Malfoy so she could steady herself on her heels. She smiled and bowed to Slughorn. "It was my pleasure to be here, Professor, it brought a light to an otherwise dreary month." Ambrosette slowly stepped off the table, picking at the food in her hair in disgust.
"I'm afraid I must be going. With my luck I'll be invited back to one of these." Ambrosette lied through her teeth as she laid Lucius ruined jacket over the chair. Oh, what a wonderful night. She'd be the talk of the school tomorrow morning and she couldn't wait. "Frank, it was really wonderful. Perhaps we could et together after this?" Ambrosette asked with a small wink. For some reason she was thinking Frank was choosing to ignore them.

Lucius stepped off the table and nodded at Ambrosette, she had certainly made this night a little more interesting and as much as he wanted to hate her for being so....Gryffindor, he couldn't find it in himself. He would settle for general distaste toward her. That would do.
Slughorn managed to catch Ambrosette before she left the room, "Miss Velna! I can't believe that we haven't had the chance to witness your...abilities for tonight!" He said, shaking her hand vigorously, "Please, do tell me that you'll come to next month's party and treat us all again!" He laughed heartily and then walked back to his seat so that he could continue his conversation with the Ravenclaw student who had occupied his attention for the entirety of the night.
"Why am I not surprised that he enjoyed that little show?" Lucius said, coming up behind Ambrosette and hooking her around the waist. He led the two of them out of the room and back toward the stairs that they had come down, "He's such a sucker when it comes to theatrics. Why do you think that everyone in that room is always trying so hard?" He laughed and began walking up the stairs.

Ambrosette just simply blinked. Great. Now she'd have to think of another performance for next time. She dropped her head with a noise of disbelief as Lucius led her up the stairs. One dinner was enough for one ear. Very suddenly Ambrosette regretted even talking to or liking Lucius. It did nothing but get her in trouble. This was not how it was supposed to end.
"Right. Obviously. When I try to be the most embarrassing date in the world I get invited back. Just. My. Luck. Maybe I'll show up with gills next time. Maybe Farnis will be my date." The sarcasm was heavy in Ambrosette's voice. Ambrosette rolled her eyes and rubbed her forehead. What a horrible night.

Lucius laughed and was about to head in the direction of the Slytherin common room when he realized that Ambrosette did not live there. She lived in the Gryffindor Common room and that was up more stairs. He internally groaned, but figured that she deserved to be walked back. She had practically won him a spot as the most interesting person...well most interesting person's date at the Slug Club, "Being invited back is supposed to be a good thing, Ambrosette." He said and raised an eyebrow at her, his hand still trailing on her waist. He pulled her close and laughed.
"Most people would give a 100 galleons to be invited to the Slug Club. Fortunately for you, you get to go without having to bribe anyone." He nodded and began the assent up the stairs toward the Gryffindor Common room. He had a feeling that if anyone saw him there would be a multitude of harsh glares and annoying quips about him taking a Gryffindor to the Dinner.

Ambrosette bumped into Lucius' shoulder. "A good thing? You'd be crazy to go through that every month. Straining to be... weird at least once a month. Maybe I'll show him the mating ritual next." Ambrosette laughed and pulled away from Lucius, tugging at her shoes. All the prancing around had hurt her feet and it felt so good to be walking flat footed again. Ambrosette shoved her shoes in her clutch and enjoyed the cold that soak through her feet against the flagstone.
Ambrosette turned back to look at him with a disbelieving smile. "You'd have to pay someone a hundred Galleons to go there. It's torture."

Lucius shook his head at her, "Mating ritual is definitely out. Two years ago Davey Gideon tried to show Slughorn the Troll mating ritual. It didn't go well." He shivered in disgust when he thought back to it. Where Ambrosette's performance had been funny and theatrical, Davey's had become awkward and extremely uncomfortable. And luckily Slughorn had managed to stop him before he stripped his kickers off too. Lucius shook his head a little quicker, "Definitely out. We wouldn't want a repeat of that. It's a wonder that Davey still gets invited. But I suppose when your parents helped invited the cure for Dragon pox..."
"It's all about connections Ambrosette, it's not really about enjoying yourself." He answered truthfully and let go of her waist. They had almost reached the common room and he didnt want to start any unnecessary rumors surrounding the two of them.

Ambrosette simply smiled and laughed. The Mermish mating ritual was perhaps the most unique and backwards way to conceive she had ever seen. For some reason it seemed so sweet and so much easier the way they did it. It was beautiful to her how something so simple could start one life. How the most misunderstood creatures could be so loving yet hostile. "Gosh no, all it involves is showing your belly which I already did. The male picks his mate according to how well she'd be able to protect there young against the rest of the clan. When he finds one, he kisses first her, then her belly. Before you know it her belly is growing for the next four months. When the child is ready to be born, the father will kiss her belly again. I don't know what happens after that because they kick up sand but eventually the baby is born." Ambrosette paused to consider what usually came after that. How some of the children never lived to even open their eyes.
"After that the clan tries to rip the child to pieces. The father will join them in their pursuit. It's up to the mother to show how well she can protect her child and love and nurture it the way it should be. If they get a hold of the child that's the end. You must wait two years to try and conceive again. It's brutal yet gorgeous." She murmured as she looked out one window that overlooked the Black Lake.
"Connections. I already have enough connections. I'm set for life." Ambrosette muttered as she drew her fingers across the windowsill, thinking of the Dark Lord.

Lucius listened intently as she explained the ceremony to him. It sounded brutal if nothing else. Terrifying really. He couldn't believe that she thought it was beautiful. It was awful, really. Like something out of a horror movie. He pressed his hand to his temples and then slowly looked around the corridor area, "Sounds brutal. And awful. And slightly sickening." He muttered and stuffed his hands into his trouser pockets. Wasn't that what everyone did anyway? Put women through tests all the time. He shook his head; he didn't care about women. They weren't his problem.
He laughed then, "Who do you have connections with Ambrosette? I feel like the Merpeople don't hold that much water outside of the Black Lake." He said and shook his head, staring at her. Who could she have connections with?

She shouldn't tell him, she wasn't even sure if she was supposed to tell anybody about it. She had been promised if she took a few lives she was protected from the upcoming war. It would come. Ambrosette would be best to know she had protection. And that is what Voldemort had promised. She turned and propped herself on the window sill, looking over Lucius.
"For one, it is great. If only you could watch the entire thing day by day. You'd change your idea entirely. Seeing how a mother would go against everyone she loves just to protect her child. The love between them as she protects them."
"Second, just connections. Best to make yourself protected before the war, right? I've picked my side. You'd be best to pick yours." Ambrosette picked at her fingernails before she sighed.

War. The word that Lucius had tried to avoid all his life. He was afraid of conflict, he wouldn't lie to himself, he had heard tell of the incoming storm that was brewing. A Dark Wizard capable of something dangerous. Able to upset the balance of power with a flick of his wrist. Lucius felt the goosebumps creep down his spine and he stared at Ambrosette. She couldnt mean that he was her connection. He couldn't imagine Ambrosette being the puppet of this...master manipulator, could he? Lucius pressed his hand to his lips as he thought the gears turning in his head.
"I'm not much into picking sides. I'd rather just sit on the fence." Lucius said and folded his arms across his chest. He knew that his father would most likely encourage or force him to pick the side of the Pure Bloods, it was inevitable. And yet, he felt like saying it aloud would seal the deal and that wasn't what he wanted in the least.

Ambrosette shook her head as she pushed off the sill. She neered him, shaking her head at his insolence. Ambrosette knew that his attitude was horrible. This war was serious. She herself had thought that way until the war grew closer, until her father had disappeared when he had been approached by him. She had not hesitated. She knew how close this war was.
"Careful not to sit on that fence too long, Lucius, or I may just end up shooting you down." Ambrosette warned, placing her hand on his face for a moment before she backed away. "You can leave now, Lucius, I know how out of place you feel."

Lucius pulled back when she touched him, taking a few steps backward and drawing his hands out of his pockets, "Sorry, Ambrosette. It's just a risk I'm going to have to take." He was talking about sitting on the fence. He wanted to make sure that he had all the facts straight. It was important to him to pick the side that would win. He did not want to lose and he did not want to chose incorrectly. He stared at her for a few more moment, his eyes glazing over slightly as he stared, "I'm gone. I'll see you around, Velna. Hopefully next time won't be as my date." He scoffed and put on his signature smirk. Enough of letting her see his true colors, he needed to put back on the mask.
"It was fun while it lasted, Gryff. But I'm afraid this is the last time that we'll be seeing each other under such...circumstances." He winked at her and turned on his heel, heading back down the stairs to the dungeons where he knew he would most certainly find the other Slytherin 7th years waiting for him. They would want to know the full story about how he got the freak Gryffindor Mer-Girl to go to the Slug Club with him.
