Grayson raised an eyebrow. She seemed on edge, "Wait, alright, let me guess. You're mad because he's killed hundreds of muggle-borns right? You're an activist?" He was trying to figure out what angle she was playing with. He scrunched up his nose as he took another long sip of butterbeer, "No...That's not quite it." He said and then tried to think of another explanation, "You're a Slytherin...but you didn't want to be a Death Eater so you chose the next best thing...?"
He frowned again, "Still not even close, am I?" He laughed and then tapped his foot on the ground, "He's taken something from you." He looked up at her and raised a curious eyebrow, "A loved one perhaps?" Grayson should have guessed that first. It was the exact same thing that had happened to him. The Dark Lord had stolen Charity, the woman he loved, from him. Now he could never have her.

Genevieve couldn't help but laugh. "Definitely not an activist. Not looking for the next best thing, if you can call being a death eater such a thing" she paused for a moment, looking over Grayson. Why had he joined up? It definitely couldn't be the first two options. No one would last through the pain for such superficial reasons. "You're right that he has taken something from me. I don't know if you can call them loved ones... I haven't had a chance to get to know them. But in the biological sense, he took my parents from me." She stared into the fire, waiting for the wave of hate to subside at the memory. Her jaw ached at the force of her teeth gritting together.

"Ah." Grayson took another long swig of his butterbeer and then groaned, "Parents taken is bad...even if they're not as close as you want them to be." He said and wiped his brow. For some reason, he was starting to sweat. Maybe it was the possibility of someone besides Hecate finding out how much Charity meant to him. He didn't want it to have to come down to him killing her. He bit his lip and then took another large swig.
"Did they join willingly?" He asked, furrowing his brow. It seemed odd that the girl would be going after her parents if they had meant nothing to her life. There had to be something else going on there.

"Does anyone willingly join that mess?" She asked sarcastically.
Genevieve watched closely as perspiration appeared on Grayson's forehead. Obviously what had brought him here was not something he wanted to share. "You can relax. I'm not going to ask what instances brought you here. Obviously you're here for something, or someone, that means a lot to you. No questions here." Genevieve put her hands up in a mock surrender pose.
She brought her glass to her lips and drank the cool liquid. She wasn't going to elaborate on her situation either. Hecate hadn't questioned what little information she had given, so there would be no need to spill her guts to a follower. The least people knew about her, the better.

This girl knew what she was talking about, Grayson thought to himself as he looked at the fire. She said she wasn't going to question him and he appreciated it. The two of them would agree to keep silent about their pasts. He could see them being good partners for Hecate's errands together. Neither had the need to ask too many questions. Almost refreshing. He was going to say something more, but he saw movement from the corner of his eyes. Hecate was moving out of the tent, still holding her head.
"I see you two have been getting along." She muttered under her breath and plopped down on the ground, facing the fire. She was too tired to keep up her facade of being strong. Right now she felt like she was going to explode.
Grayson stared at her for a long moment and then conjured up another butterbeer.

Genevieve watched as Hecate slumped down and Grayson handed her a butterbeer. So her power had repercussions, how.... humbling. Everyone needed something that made them human. She moved her eyes back to the fire. Hecate wouldn't want her pity, so she wasn't going to offer it. She watched as the fire danced and thought about how much everything had changed in the last twenty-four hours. she could hardly say she regretted it, as long as the results were as she desired. She took another look at Hecate and then Grayson. Surely they hadn't made it this far to fail now.

Hecate grabbed the beer, plugged her nose, and took a large gulp. Grayson knew that she couldn't handle anything stronger than butterbeer, but he also knew that Hecate hated the taste of butterbeer. It was all he could offer her and she took it willingly. She put the mug down and took off her gloves, looking down at her scarred hands, "So..." She was awful at small talk. She had never developed normal social skills. She had been too busy harboring power and control.
Grayson laughed slightly at her attempt, "Any plans for the evening?" He asked Hecate, finishing up his beer and then making his mug disappear.
"Tonight, I plan on..." Hecate frowned, her head was throbbing again, "Doing absolutely nothing."

Genevieve finished her butterbeer and let the glass fade away. If there was nothing planned for the night she should probably return to the school before curfew. "I should probably get to my dorm before someone questions where I am. When should I return?" She was unsure of just how her new situation would be working out. Would she just be called or would there be designated meeting times? Was she going to have assignments? And would she ever know who the other members were, or was it all to be secret. She shrugged and just waited for Hecate's answer.

Hecate looked up, "We'll all reconvene tomorrow, Genevieve." She said and held the bridge of her nose, "You'll know when it's time." She said and smiled slightly. It was a terrifying smile and she immediately stopped, aware that her emotions were showing on her face. She shouldn't have let her guard down so soon in front of the girl. Now she feared that she might betray her to the other Brotherhood members. Then again, if she was exposed, then Genevieve would have no one to help her. Hecate nodded, she wouldn't tell, "Your wheel burns when I need you. Ignore it and it will get worse. You have been warned."

Genevieve nodded. "I understand." She left without another word. Surely formal goodbyes weren't needed? She traced her way through the forest until she returned to the open grounds. She looked around her, making sure no one was around to see where she had been. She walked along, fearing that someone was watching her. 'Don't be silly.' she kept telling herself. If anyone was watching her it would be Hecate, wouldn't it? She continued her way across the grounds a little faster.
