Hermione smiled at Charles with her eyebrows raised. "You want to keep it?" in truth she wanted to keep it as well. "Okay, fine. But we split the responsibility, and I'm not buying diapers. You're going to have to potty train him," she said sternly so there was no room for arguments. Hades would understand, not like he needed a three-headed gerbil anyways. Spotting the shop they needed to go to, she a bee line towards it. "We'll need to buy him things!" she said excitedly looking at all the nifty things.

Charles laughed and then held the small gerbil in his hand, "Hermione, he needs a name...We can't just keep calling him...He or...It. He'll take offense. I was thinking something along the lines of Harold. After that creepy man that we met in that bar. He deserves to be in our lives forever." He whispered to her as he started to look at all the pet supplies. He had never actually had a pet. Except for his owl, but that didnt really count. He felt like everyone had an owl.
"Hamster wheel." He said, picking it up and looking at it, "Our child needs this." He winked and then picked up a gerbil couch that also functioned as a chew toy, "Also...this....whatever this is. He needs it."

Hermione's face scrunched up. "HAROLD?" she made a gagging noise as she stuck out her tongue. "How about Cute-cuddy-wuddly-bear?" she giggled as she touched little knick knacks here and there. Spotting a nice pink glass and metal cage, she ooh'd and ahh'd. "This one! This one is adorable! Look it's pink!" She looked at the little gerbil, "Would you like this nice pink cage as your new home my cute-cuddly-wuddly-bear?"

"You're not naming him cute-cuddly-wuddly-bear. He is a male." Charles said and pulled the gerbil away to pet it's head, "And you're not getting him a pink cage. That's not near manly enough." He said and pointed to a blue cage, "That one. That one is better for cute-cuddly-wuddly-bear--I mean Harold." He said and nodded, "If we're going to get into fights like this already, I don't know how we can expect to raise a gerbil together Hermione."

Hermione pouted, "Why must everything be blue and manly? He's mine, too! And Harold is not his name!" She took the blue cage and carried it down with her as she looked at more things. "We'll name him something else, but certainly not Harold," she said taking some food, chew logs, and tiny houses with ladders. "And he'll need all these as well," she said shoving all her items towards him.

Charles stared at her wide eyed, "I guess this means that you'll be wanting me to buy it then?" He held out the gerbil to Hermione, "I hope that he pees on you!" He said with a small laugh, but he was serious. He took all the supplies and bought them at the cash register.
"Anything else you think that our darling Harold will need, 'Mione?" Charles winked, now he was just trying to push her buttons. It had been an all together random day and this was just what he needed to help him feel btter about what had happened to his dad a month ago. He smiled and nudged her lightly, "How's our little cute-cuddly-wuddly-bear doing?"

Hermione looked down at the little critter, rubbing her nose against all three of theirs. "He's just fine," she cooed and suddenly jumped up. "CLOTHES! He needs clothes!" she exclaimed. Turning around in a circle three times, she tried to spot where they could keep clothes for three headed gerbils. "Oh no! They don't have clothes for him. Well, he can't walk around naked!" she exclaimed with a large frown on her face.

"Hermione!" Charles couldn't help but laugh. He rolled his eyes and then grabbed one of her shoulders lightly, "He has fur. Don't you think that clothes are a little...superfluous?" He looked around the store just the same, looking for anything that resembled clothing. He saw nothing, "Okay...you know what? If you think that he needs clothes that much, we can knit him something. If i learned nothing from my grandma, I at least picked up how to knit." Charles looked at her and smiled, "It can be a bonding experience!"

Hermione sighed exasperatedly, "Charles, every citizen in the UK knows how to knit!" She rummaged through a box of cloths and ribbons until finally just taking the entire box and throwing it on the counter. "Well take this entire box," she said to the woman looking strangely at her. Hermione shrugged, "What?.. He's not going to stay this size forever."

"You, my dear, are taking this way too seriously," Charles said and nudged Hermione slightly. He pulled out the galleons in order to pay for the lot of stuff and then put it all under his arms, "How large do you think a three-headed Gerbil is going to grow anyways....?" Charles hadn't exactly considered this aspect of the animal, "I mean...fluffy was huge and he was supposed to be a dog....I can only think that our small little baby gerbil is going to....be huge." Charles frowned and then looked at her, "Where are we gonna keep it?!"

Hermione thought about it for a second. Fluffy was gigantic, but a gerbil was a lot smaller than a dog. Perhaps the un-named three-headed gerbil would be the size of a very tall man. She considered for a moment of all the possibilities before stating them outloud. "Well, the Dark Forest is out of the question!" she said straight away as she carried the box that the lady had put everything in. "He can stay with us in our rooms until he gets too big to be unnoticable by other students. Of course, we'd have to work out who gets him when and for how long," she said. "And when he gets too big, well. We'll worry about that later."

"I can't believe we're even having this conversation, Hermione Granger. This is positively ridiculous. This little gerbil is going to grow up and be the most spoiled child that I know....You know what? Why don't you just move in with me? The Hufflepuff common room has been more than spacious as of late. I feel like there are less and less Hufflepuffs around as the year progresses. Always room for an honorary one named Granger." Charles said and winked. He shrugged his shoulders, "Plus, maybe this time I won't have a deep fear of commitment...."

Hermione turned as she pushed open the door with her back, then went to the cobblestone streets of Hogsmeade towards the castle. Her eyes went wide, but thankfully she walked ahead of Charles so he couldn't see her expression. "Wait... You... You want me to move in with you?" she asked slowing down and putting on a poker face as she began to walk side by side with him.

Charles laughed, "I was only joking Hermione." He said with a laugh and then furrowed his brow as he grew a little more serious, "I mean....I wasn't completely joking. I won't lie to you: there wasn't a day gone by that I didnt think about you when I was gone...Not a day. I couldn't stop thinking about what I would say when I came back...If you would even want to see me...How things would play out between us." He took a deep breath, "Hermione, there's something different about you. And I'm not normally one to say that...But I feel....different when I'm around you." He looked down at all the stuff that he was carrying, trying not to show how pink his cheeks had gotten.

She looked down at her box as she pinked in the cheeks. "I'm different when I'm around you too, Charles," she admitted. She'd thought about how she missed him after he left, how heartbroken she was over the fact that they had ended so suddenly. And then the guilt she felt when her feelings for Ron started to emerge, and the intensify at his death. Truth be told, she didn't know what to feel. She let a peaceful silence fall between them as they walked.
"I really like you," she said as the castle appeared in the distance.
